Thursday, 24 July – Harapan Hati Malaysia was honoured to receive an invitation from Cinta Gaza Malaysia to attend the Sumud Nusantara Briefing, a regional solidarity initiative uniting the strength of the Nusantara community in support of the Palestinian cause. The event was held with great spirit and purpose at Tenera Hotel, Bandar Baru Bangi.
‘Sumud’, an Arabic word meaning steadfastness or resilience, is commonly used to describe the daily resistance of the Palestinian people against Israeli occupation. The term became a national symbol in the 1960s and was later promoted as a political expression by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
This initiative draws inspiration from the Global Sumud Flotilla (globalsumudflotilla.org), an international humanitarian movement organising one of the largest maritime missions to Gaza via sea routes. In line with this vision, Sumud Nusantara also plans to deploy humanitarian ships to Gaza, exerting pressure to break the siege and enable life-saving aid to enter the besieged region.
Sumud Nusantara stands as a powerful symbol of the region’s united struggle not merely in the form of donations but as a full commitment towards the total liberation of Palestine. Eight countries are set to participate including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The mission serves as a reminder that the Palestinian issue is not seasonal nor simply a humanitarian crisis but it is a responsible of Islamic faith and we will continue to raise our voices until Palestine is free.
Our sincere congratulations to Tuan Nadir Al-Nuri and the Cinta Gaza Malaysia team for initiating such a vital and inspiring movement. Harapan Hati Malaysia proudly pledges its support for this mission with permission and strength from Allah SWT.
