Thank you, Malaysia!
Gaza Strip, 6 March 2026 – Alhamdulillah, the distribution of zakat made possible through the contributions of the Malaysian people has been safely delivered to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. This distribution was prioritized for the poor and needy, as well as orphaned children, who are currently facing a humanitarian crisis, especially during this month of Ramadan.
The zakat contributions channeled through Harapan Hati Malaysia have truly brought relief to the recipients as they endure severe hardship. Although the majority of the recipients were women and children, this assistance also reached men and heads of households who have lost their source of income. They expressed deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the care and concern shown by the people of Malaysia.
On the importance of directing zakat to the region, it is worth reflecting on the statement once emphasized by Dr. Ali al-Qaradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars:
“In Gaza, all eight categories of zakat recipients are present; they are entitled to receive your zakat. My fatwa is: gather your zakat for up to the next two years and send it to your brothers and sisters in Gaza. Whoever intends to perform Umrah this year, use that allocation instead to send aid to Gaza!”
Harapan Hati Malaysia extends its deepest thanks to all donors. May every contribution given become a source of strength for the Palestinian people there, helping them remain steadfast.
